G. J. Verbruggen (b. 1996, Raleigh, NC) is a multidisciplinary artist and writer that focuses on themes of death, grief, the fates, and how society deems the feminine should be able to express them.
Verbruggen utilizes oils on canvas, vintage crochet threads in the filet technique, and oil pastels on paper in her practice. Through a mixture of poems, realism and surreal elements she seeks to uncover the personal philosophies that women often lace throughout their lives surrounding their beliefs about the ‘beyond’.
